What happens when a seed planted years ago finally blooms on another continent? We are thrilled to share that passTRESpass, the project born in 2006 with refugees and migrants in Athens, is beginning a exciting new chapter—in Senegal.
This new journey, titled Ndaje (pronounced n-dah-je, meaning “gathering” in Wolof), is the result of a full-circle invitation from Doudou Gueye, a cherished repeat participant in our early Greece performances. He has invited us to his home in Dakar to create a new performance work with the residents of the Medina neighborhood at the Maison de la Culture Douta Seck.
We are honored to be joined by longtime collaborators:
· Jill Woodward, an independent filmmaker and dancer. She created the films Journey Without a Map, bodies of resilience, and passTRESpass, which document our work in Greece.
· Damaris Webb, a performer and theater maker who previously collaborated with Doudou in 2012. She excels at adapting forms to uplift specific communities.
Together, we will spend the first two weeks of February in deep collaboration, weaving together movement, memory, and story.
Join Us to Launch This Journey!
